How We Work
Consult.
We listen before we wrench.
Tell us about your car, your goals, and what matters most. We’ll take a look and figure out the best path forward.
Plan.
Clarity from the start.
You’ll get a clear estimate and a step-by-step plan — no surprises, no guesswork.
Execute.
Done right, start to finish.
We keep you updated as the work happens, with notes and photos so you always know what we did and why.
Why Speed House
“Steven and Jon gave my 1985 Land Cruiser a new life! And now she runs beautifully. I appreciate their time, patience, and expertise.”
We’re selective on purpose.
We focus on the kinds of vehicles we know inside and out.
Techs you can actually talk to.
Like talking to a friend who knows what they’re doing. We explain what matters, answer your questions, and keep things collaborative.
Precision isn’t optional.
From torque specs to trim fitment, we sweat the details that make the difference between good and great.
Rooted in community, not ego.
We’re here for the culture, not the clout. Respect for the machines and the people who love them comes first.
Our Space
Tucked in the heart of downtown Durham, our shop is purpose-built for craftsmanship and connection.
Upstairs, the main garage is clean, flexible, and fully capable — a space where vintage cars are serviced by day and sometimes celebrated by night.
Downstairs, our dedicated metal fabrication bay lets us handle restoration work with precision and discretion.
And up front, a rotating showroom features standout vehicles for sale, each one chosen for its character, history, and connection to the culture we care about.
Inside the main garage. Sometimes a shop, sometimes a gathering space.
